Optical Animal provided projection mapping and production support for two ambitious film projects by New York filmmaker Jem Cohen, spanning three years and four cities across two continents.

The films, titled "We Have An Anchor" and "Gravity Hill: Sound + Image" were conceived of as a live cinematic experiences, that are only actualized as such. The films are accompanied by a live score provided by a group of musicians consisting of Guy Picciotto of Fugazi, Efrim Menuck and Sohpie Trudeau of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Jim White of Dirty Three, Jessica Moss of Thee Silver Mt. Zion, Mira Billotte of White Magic, Matana Roberts, T. Griffin, and and others, and includes an element of "expanded cinema" wherein, at several points throughout the program, portions of the film are projected beyond the main screen and onto the surrounding architecture of the space.

Optical Animal toured with the ensemble, advancing shows, designing a projection layout & strategy unique to each space, installing servers and running the expanded content for the show at each venue.
